About the course

Bachelor of Education or B. Ed. is an Undergraduate Bachelor two years’ degree program which is takenup by candidates who are interested in teaching. The course is a professional course and its minimum eligibility criterion is that the candidates must have completed their undergraduate degree course in any discipline. The duration for the course is for two years. In India, B. Ed. is a major prerequisite for any candidate to teach at the High School level. National Council for Teacher Education is the sole authority which is responsible for monitoring the study programs on education. Any student, who wishes to make a career in the field of school teaching, has to undergo the process of learning all the necessary aspects of education. In order to be eligible to teach at the high school level, one has to pursue this course. This course demands that the students must be vocal and fluent in their speech. The course also demands that the students must be good at problem solving because teaching at the school level is a very challenging job. Duration

The duration for the course is of two years. The two years are structured in a way that the courses are taught not only through classroom learning but also through seminars, practical and internship. The course offered through distance learning has the duration of minimum two years and maximum five years.

How to Get Admission in Bachelor of Education [B.Ed]

The admission to B. Ed. is through the Common entrance exam conducted by the State Universities for the intake of students. Generally, the admission test is conducted in the month of April and the forms for the admission test are available online. The syllabus for the entrance test is as follows:

2. General Awareness
3. Logical and Analytical Reasoning
4. General English

Selection Process

The selection of the candidates is on the basis of the performance in the entrance exam. Each candidate, in order to take admission in the course, must appear for the entrance exam. The university then issues a merit list which ranks students according to their performance in the entrance test. For each category and stream, separate lists are issued and during the counseling process the students are granted admission.
